Safety tips
Most people here are genuine, but scammers also use dating sites, especially between countries. These tips keep you safe.
Never send money
Never send money, Zelle, Pix, Western Union, gift cards, crypto or "investments" to someone you met online, no matter how sad or urgent the story: plane ticket, hospital, customs, frozen bank account, inheritance. It is almost always a scam.
Warning signs
- Very fast declarations of love.
- They say they work far away: oil rig, army, ship, mission abroad.
- There is always a reason not to do a video call.
- They want to leave the site quickly and move to WhatsApp or Telegram.
- They talk about investments, crypto or "opportunities".
- They ask for intimate photos, which can be used for blackmail.
Before meeting
- Make video calls before any meeting.
- Prefer profiles with the Verified badge.
- On the first date, choose a public place and tell someone you trust where you will be.
- For international trips, pay for your own ticket and lodging, and never hand your passport to anyone.
Protect your data
Don't share your SSN, CPF, passwords, codes received by text message or bank details.
Something feels wrong?
Use Report on the profile or in the chat. The person won't know who reported them. If you already sent money, contact the police and your bank right away. In the US you can also report it at reportfraud.ftc.gov.
